Oh, I Love A Parade: Military Jacket

Hi everyone!

ICYMI: I got this jacket a couple weeks ago after seeing that it was a nice dupe for this jacket and I’m pretty pumped about it.I love military/band inspired jackets – if it’s double breasted, I want it (bonus if the buttons are metal and engraved). First off, the Gap version is made differently – I really like the metal buttons and the hints of velvet piping all around it whereas the VB one has plastic buttons and I feel like the fabric is not very durable. I also like that this is more of a “jacket” than a blazer so I could dress it up or down. Second off, the obvious price difference – a little over 7 times more perhaps??  You can’t get a better deal than that! My only complaint is that the hooks on the jacket are not very user friendly – they are small and super close to the fabric so it takes quite a few tries to get them to lock together. Other than that, you will definitely be seeing more of this jacket around here because I have now been wearing it nonstop! If you end up purchasing your own, send me some pictures and/or let me know how you’d style it – maybe I’ll share a few on Insta-stories!

Please excuse the awkward tucked-in shirt – I meant to do it different but there’s no mirrors outside, ha!

Jacket: Gap, Shirt: Brandy Melville, Bracelet: Trending Above, Earrings: Two Sisters Boutique, Choker & Pants: Nordstrom, OTK Boots: Sole Society

Weekly Wrap Up: Feb 19th – Feb 25th

Hi everyone!

This week was filled with so many celebrations – such a great one to talk about.

But before I get to those, I gotta talk about the awesome experience I had at Ranalli’s in Lincoln Park. Alex and Claire (who I talked about last roundup) both invited me to the restaurant’s The Bachelor watch party – and needless to say, it was all decked out! Roses lined the tables, The Bachelor branded wines (yeah, that’s a thing – who knew??) were being served, and they had heart-shaped pizzas. Swoon. The atmosphere felt like sports fan watching a game at a bar – everyone reacted at the same time when drama would happen and people gasped when Arie sent *spoiler* home. It was hilarious and so fun meeting a few new girls too. I got the rosé instead (oops) but I did try someone else’s cabernet..I mean Fantasy Suite..wine and it tasted pretty good, not overly sweet so I might brave that and One on One (chardonnay) next time I go. You know I had to get the pizza – I got sausage and onion, which was pretty good and the sauce was relatively sweet. However, when you order pepperoni, they cut them like little hearts so maybe I should have went that route (though I’m not a pepperoni fan)! The pizza size was definitely bigger than I thought so I was able to split it with another person. I would love to go back for the finale and continue to come for (hopefully) Bachelor in Paradise and the rest of the franchise as well. Such a great idea and pricing wasn’t bad either – as for the crowds, it’s not that crowded but you still need a reservation just in case. This week was the most people that Alex and Claire had seen. You can also earn points every time you come into the restaurant with their app AND earn double on Bachelor night toward food and drinks!

Ok, back to the celebrations part. I was so happy to have my cousin come and visit me this week while in for a job interview – thankfully, she got it!! Yay! We went to The Godfrey Hotel in River North to grab a drink before she headed back home and their raspberry moscow mules were so good! Can we talk about how swanky this place is?? The lobby is so chic with its sleek couches and chrome details, plus all the pretty lights everywhere. Not pictured is the wine rack arch ways leading to the first floor bar/restaurant where you could walk under all these perfectly displayed bottles. As we made our way to the rooftop, there were more pretty lights and a really cool fountain with their logo lit up on top. I liked how you could choose to be inside or outside for the rooftop because it was pouring HARD. In the winter, you can rent out igloos though so even with rain you’d be ok. There’s also a ton of fire pits outside too which is a nice touch when it’s a little chillier out. Definitely coming on my next sunny day off!

I also got to celebrate a former co-worker’s birthday at Howl at the Moon (happy birthday Mary!) – a piano bar known for their “bucket drinks”. I had a sip of one and WOW they are super potent! Next time I go, maybe I’ll take the plunge since there were so many different ones to try. It was such a fun time – all the requests were older songs and one that made the night was “Let it Go” from Frozen at the end of the night! Ha! It was a little bit of an older crowd but you could dance on stage and we closed it down so I would go again!

img_9337Last thing real quick: my promised champagne gummy bear recipe is coming up on the blog soon! They tasted so good (though I found out the hard way that they are only meant to taste like champagne and rosé, not actually get you drunk) so I knew I had to craft a cocktail with them somehow!

Local Spots I Checked Out: Ranalli’s, Howl at the Moon, The Godfrey Hotel

Events I’m Looking Forward To: Flower Crowns & Cocktails with Alex, Drake Fest, Oscar Parties, St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl, Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

See you in the next post!

Chicago Restaurant Week – 1st Take

Hi all!

I was able to participate in Chicago Restaurant Week for the first time ever this year to check out different places around the city. For those who don’t know, Restaurant Week is a time in Chicago when different places have set menus you can try for a set price. Depending on where you go, you’ll find multiple choices of items for around 3-4 courses. Brunch and lunch menus are $22 while dinner is either $33 or $44. The first one I went to (plus had been meaning to check out anyway) was Barrio. Barrio is an upscale take on Mexican food with little twists thrown in. The head chef of the restaurant, Katsuji Tanabe, is a Top Chef alum and grew up in Mexico so he wanted to pay homage to his homeland with this beautiful chandelier clad restaurant (like the beams outside on the patio which are supposed to represent sun rays). Without further ado, let’s get into the food.

First up, the burrata. Now, I love burrata and have it often so I may be a little bias with this one, however, it offered an interesting take on your typical bread and cheese. This version also included mint and a very refreshing salsa verde sauce with it to add a little Mexican flair to an otherwise very Italian dish. There was also Michigan honey to sweeten it up plus the bread was made with polenta and had a nice crunch to it. This next one was my favorite of the courses and if you know me well, you’ll know why. Two words: truffle taco. Yeah that’s right – this taco had white truffle garlic crema in it and it was delish. Mushrooms were the “meat” of this taco, along with gruyere and cotija cheese and some crispy onions too. I would 100% order these again for the taste – plus look how cute they are in the pink shells (the corn ones are made in house)! To finish it out, I had the cocoa taco – see a theme here? 😉 This was pretty hard to mess up since it had chocolate ice cream, and brownies in it. The unique element of this dish was that it had coconut crema and coconut toffee on it (I’m not a big coconut person but I didn’t mind this at all) plus some guajillo caramel. The other option was a churro with different sauces which I almost went with but La Bodega Imports (the little churro shop next door) is owned by Barrio so I just ended up going there after. The food was great, however the service was slightly lackluster because of it being Restaurant Week. The manager was going from table to table asking how everyone’s meals were and ended up giving us a round of free drinks to compensate which was really sweet so we appreciated that very much. I got the Pantera Rosa which had cucumber-infused Effen vodka, watermelon, and lime. If you like tonics and vodka cranberries you’ll like this – sweet but fresh with the cucumber and lime. The manager told us that this drink is a very popular one. So though there was the whole service thing, I’d definitely still come here again because the food was great and they made sure to fix their mistakes right away which shows that they care. Besides dinner, I hear their brunch is pretty amazing too so definitely going back for that soon.

This next one you’ve definitely heard me mention before (remember that Chicagogrammers event I went to?): Yard House. I was shocked to see that they had a Restaurant Week menu since they are a chain so even though I wasn’t planning on it, I figured why not give it a try! Some differences I noticed from Barrio were that the portions were a bit larger (not that Barrio’s was small, this was a lot of food for one person) plus they gave you one drink (beer/wine) included which I thought was a nice touch. Most places during this week don’t have a drink to go with it. Since Yard House is more of a beer haus, you can try all kinds of beer before settling on the one you want. I tried two different ones: the one on the left is the House Honey Blonde and the one on the right is the Metropolitan Krankshaft Kölsch – both light beers. The honey one was light and crisp while the metro had a slight tickle to the tongue and tasted slightly more “beer like”. I opted for the Honey one since they mentioned it’s a crowd favorite plus I figured with all the food I was about to consumer, the lighter the better.

Before the Restaurant Week menu, I decided to take a leap of faith and try the Cauliflower Bites. I haven’t had cauliflower in decades because my childhood self was scarred from the texture and the lack of flavor from just regular steamed cauliflower – not to mention it’s in the broccoli family which I am still not a fan of (sorry mom)! So, Since these little snacks have been trending so much in the foodie world lately, I thought maybe I could give them another shot since they were fried this time and drizzled in buffalo sauce. I was actually very surprised that I liked these – I probably would’ve added just a little bit more buffalo sauce to drown out the cauliflower flavor a little more but otherwise these and the spicy tahini sauce with them were pretty good!Back to what you came for – so as you can see from the menu, there was quite a few options to choose from. The lunch version was on the back as well so I could have went that route but I thought better to try dinner since it came with the dessert. This was a tough decision but I ultimately went all out with the spinach dip and thought the dip was so cheesy and gooey, however the real winner was the chips. Freshly baked crispy pita doused in Parmesan cheese. I want to find a way to make these because they were perfect with the dip! Not too oily but not too dry either and the cheese added a little flavor while also mixing with the cheese already in the dip – perfect with a beer too.I decided to stay in the Parmesan theme and go with the Parmesan-crusted pork loin dressed in a bourbon sage-cheery shallot sauce along with sweet potato mashed potatoes and some broccolini. The sauce and the sweet potatoes went perfectly together since both had that woodsy sweetness with the syrup like sweetness of the sauce and the sweet potatoes tasted like pumpkin pie – yum! I am not really a sweet potato person but this was very good. The Parmesan added a nice crunch to the meat and thought the broccoli I was my least favorite part I did appreciate that they were salted and had some flavor to them instead of just the fresh-off-the-grill just oiled taste. The final course was my favorite one though because everything worked so well here. The chocolate soufflé tasted like a lava cake without the dramatic pour out of chocolate coming out: warm and moist yet you could still taste that chocolate ganache throughout it. The vanilla ice cream on top gave the dish a nice hot and cold pairing with it melting together with the cake. The mint leaf was a nice touch but didn’t offer much flavor so I think that was more intended for garnish instead. The size on this was great since it gave you the perfect amount without being too much. Overall, the portions for these were huge which was a nice change since I heard some of my friends saying that a lot of restaurants tend to skimp on the size of each dish during this week (whereas I had to take a lot of this home with me). I will most definitely be coming back here since the service was great as well – this showed me that you shouldn’t discount the chains during Restaurant Week!

I was originally supposed to go to Split-Rail for their Restaurant Week menu but sadly I never made it. I’ll be sure to go at some point though!

See you in the next post!

Weekly Wrap Up: Feb 12th-Feb 18th

Hi everyone!

This update is going to be super short since I kept my week pretty low key this week – I guess you could say cabin fever is real? Anyway, the main event that I went to this week was a pretty fun one: a happy hour at MM.La Fleur! Coming from NYC and built from one of Zac Posen’s former designers, MM.La Fleur is a company made for the working woman. All pieces are made for fit and quality as a way to give you basics that will keep your wardrobe modern and chic plus they’ll last forever.

With prosecco and a charcuterie board, this is how a party should be. I didn’t end up purchasing anything but I know a couple girls ended up with a dress or two. You can book a try on sesh (champagne and slippers included!) at their new River North location or order a “bento box” to try it on at home and send back what you don’t want. The difference between them and Trunk Club (local favorite) is that MM is not a subscription service, plus they make all their pieces instead of selling other brands you know and love. Think of it as an elevated shopping experience for when you need to update a few of your favorite items.

Christine of Momma Has You and Alex of Sassy Confetti

The lovely hosts for the evening: Christine of The Chicago Good Life & Alex of Sassy Confetti

Everybody cheesin’ plus Claire of Bumble and Bustle!

Also, can we talk about this space? So Instagrammable. It’s a pretty big showroom with the cute little green couch in the corner and the marble bar in the middle so I would definitely consider hosting another event here. Everyone was given a chance to try items on and mingle as they pleased, which was great to branch out and meet as many people as I could (and talk to my friends who I already know). Thank you so much to Alex and Christine of Sassy Confetti and The Chicago Good Life, the hosts of this lovely evening, as well as all my friends new and old that I met there!

Local Spots I Checked Out: MM.La Fleur

Events I’m Looking Forward To: Cousin Visit, Drake Fest, Birthday Celebrations, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Neighborhood Egg Hunt

That’s all for now, hope you learned a thing or two.

Weekly Wrap Up: Feb 4th-Feb 11th

Hi everyone – back for another round of updates this am. First off is a little mini working session at La Colombe coffee in Lincoln Park. It’s such a cute little spot and the staff is super friendly. I tried the Unsweetened Hot Chocolate (yep, that’s a thing) with just 100% Dutch cocoa and some milk. I added cinnamon and stevia and it was the perfect thing to warm me up.

Next up, Restaurant Week strikes again: this time at Yard House. I got to taste a couple beers, try some cauliflower bites (not on the RW menu but never had them before so why not), and a few other items. Like I said last week, I’ll be recapping all things RW in a future post soon!

In this theme of food comes one last restaurant run in The Berghoff – the oldest restaurant in downtown Chicago (the 3rd in the area since the first two are in the ‘burbs) in a 40,000 sq ft building. It was so fun getting to see some of my friends and meeting new ones – not to mention that the food was AMAZING. No wonder they’ve been in business for 120 years! Thanks to Chicagogrammers for setting this up.

The first item I tried was the pretzels, one of only two items out of the 300 not made in house. That’s right – 298 total items on the menu are made from scratch daily, the chefs get to the kitchen at 4:30 am baking the bread and ready for the day. They also have over 30 beers on tap and are looking to start brewing in house soon too. Hopefully I’ll be back to tour these new facilities once they are up and running. Anyway, one of the reasons that the pretzels are not made in house is because it’s made with lye – great in bread but very dangerous to work with in the kitchen. This pretzel was so moist and doughy – and the beer cheese just tops it off perfectly.

I tried the spinach stuffed mushrooms next – they tasted just like these spinach “cookies” my mom used to make. Pesto with cheese and spinach – yum!

The pastrami sandwiches were a bit salty (I’ve never had one before so I’m not the expert on these) but the cheese curds (which I do know a thing or two about) had a nice crunchy breading and a cheesy inside.

The last little band of treats I consumed were the brats (the freshly baked buns had a nice crunch yet soft), the cauliflower bites (wish there was a little more crunch but the sauces were good), and the quesadillas. The quesadillas have their signature beer cheese inside them – super yummy! The very last item was my favorite thing I tried – the donuts. So doughy and fluffy and not overly sweet, with a drizzle of chocolate on top it took the cake! Every single one of these items are available to order on their happy hour menu so if you need a snack, check out The Berghoff!

A little peek into what goes on into these little events I go to. Lots of lights and always food!

Before I tap out, some history as a side to the meal. We went on a tour of the secret cafe downstairs and learned all kinds of things about the restaurant. First, the start of the restaurant. During the World’s Fair, Herman Berghoff wanted to go inside to set up his beer stand to make some money like the other vendors at the fair. You had to be invited so he was turned down. Frustrated – he set up his stand right outside and the rest is history. The restaurant also has the first and second liquor licenses in the city since prohibition ended (for 100 years) since Herman Berghoff was so compliant with the city during prohibition by switching from beer to root beers and soda pop. Here he is holding it below. Though the place is old, they refuse landmark status because they want to continue improving it by knocking down walls but the bar is original as well as the wood work, stained glass and murals so they try to save as much of the original details as they can. They are also featured in the Museum of Science and Industry as part of the Yesterday’s Main Street Exhibit because their restaurant is considered the start of the legendary Route 66 and because of how long it’s been in business. Three last takeaways: everyone in the kitchen has to take a gluten & celiac certification so they are careful about the sensitivity with customers (yay for allergy awareness). The ownership of the establishment has also never left the family – going on 5 generations from grandfather to father to son and counting. The final one might surprise you – they were just named one of the best poké places in town. Yep, that’s right – a beer haus made the list and it’s considered their next best kept secret after the cafe. Something I’ll have to check out in the future I guess!

Anyone Can Cook: Pizza Roundup

Hi everyone!

So in case you didn’t notice before, I love me some pizza 🍕. I’ve been making good use of all the prosciutto I got last week by making pies like these. Here’s a couple different recipes to check out when you get a craving for some crust.

Cauliflower Crust Red Sauce Pizza with Prosciutto

You’ll need a cauliflower crust, a cup or so of cheese (I used a blend of different ones but shredded mozzarella is great too), a few spoonfuls of red pizza/spaghetti sauce – go for the pizza if you have it since it’ll be easier to spread but I didn’t have any so pasta sauce it is, a slice or two of prosciutto, a few leaves of basil, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and olive oil.

IMG_8787IMG_8788

Ok friends – this pizza is going to have a couple extra steps due to the different crust. Before starting to “dress” your pizza, you need to cook the crust first – it is very squishy and easy to break otherwise. With that being said, follow the directions on the back of the box to insure quality results but also watch it carefully too, as mine got a little too crispy on the edge for my liking and I wouldn’t have taken it out early had I not been checking on it. Take out the crust and let it sit while preheating the oven/toaster oven back to 425 degrees.IMG_8789IMG_8790

Now that we have that settled, here comes the best part: the toppings! Since the crust is not going to be the most flavorful part of the meal, these will certainly help with that. First, grab your sauce and spread an even thin layer across your crust. Then, add your cheese and make sure it is also spread evenly throughout the pizza as well. Next, take your prosciutto and tear a slice into pieces to put across the pizza. If you want to add a rose like mine below, simply take a whole slice of prosciutto and spiral it in your hand like a cone. Add that to the center of the pizza and put two basil leaves next to it to make it look like it has “leaves”. I will say as pretty as this looked it was very salty with both options so I would pick one or the other (rose or strips). If you do strips only, spread a few leaves of the basil across the pizza so you can still have that flavor. Another tip to add is that you could also just cook the cheese and sauce first, then add the meat and basil afterwards – you’ll get a stronger basil flavor this way and the meat tastes good either way.

IMG_8792IMG_8793

Now that everything is added, pop it in the oven for 8-10 mins, again keeping a close eye on it since you’re now cooking the crust for a second time. Once done, remove from the oven and season to taste with all dry spices and a little bit of salt (remember it’s already salty from the meat). Top it off with a very little drizzle of olive oil across the pizza and voila!IMG_8794IMG_8796

Breakfast Pizza Topped with an Egg

For this pizza and the one following it, I used an actual bread crust this time so no extra cooking needed here. I used Naan flatbread since it’s super fluffy and doughy plus it’s easier to find than a plain regular pizza crust (and smaller so better for a personal pizza). What you’ll need here is one slice of Naan, one egg, 2 slices of prosciutto, a few slices of fresh mozzarella, grated parmesan cheese, a dash of pesto, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and olive oil. Preheat the toaster oven/oven to 425 for this.

IMG_8943

While the oven is heating up, grab your Naan and start with a thin even layer of pesto, add your prosciutto on top and then add your mozzarella and parmesan. For the mozzarella, I used mini balls of it but if you have one big ball instead since its more common, slice it in four or more slices so it covers the pizza.IMG_8944

Cook for about 8-10 minutes and remove from the oven. While it cooks, throw your egg on a greased pan and fry until the clear egg white becomes white and the yellow yolk becomes more golden. Top the pizza with the egg and add all dry spices to taste along with a tiny bit of salt (mainly for the egg since the rest of the pizza will already be pretty salty with the meat and pesto). Drizzle a little bit of olive oil on top and enjoy!IMG_8945img_8946IMG_8947

Hard Cheese Pizza

This next one is a little different than your average pizza because the cheese is not soft like mozzarella and so will not spread out as much. This is basically the same ingredients as the cauliflower pizza but swap the crust for Naan and the cheese for a block of Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano (the king of cheeses, no wood shavings here) – If you want a nuttier flavor go for the parm. I only had pecorino so I went for that – I love both but prefer parm. Preheat the toaster oven/oven to 425 again.

IMG_8975

Take your Naan and add a thin layer of red sauce, add one slice of prosciutto and cut up little bites of your cheese and add on top. You can also add basil either now or after cooking. Cook for about 8-10 mins. IMG_8976

Once out, look at how the cheese has a nice little caramelized crust on it – it adds a nice woody flavor to it. Top with spices and a little bit of salt as well as a drizzle of olive oil.

IMG_8977IMG_8978

That’s all folks! I think next time I’m going to throw in a couple “sauceless” pizzas with just olive oil as the sauce and see how it goes. Happy National Pizza day and save a slice for me.

See you in the next post!

Weekly Wrap Ups: Jan 29th – Feb 4th

Hi everyone!

New week (and month!) to start us out this morning – how we feeling? As last night’s Super Bowl party washes over me, I’ll be moving a little slowly today. With that being said though, I’m ready to “tackle” this next one (get it? 😉).

First off, can we talk about this major deal I found through the oh so kind Emily Gemma? I’ll be doing a separate post on this but this jacket is SUCH a steal compared to it’s expensive doppleganger. Stay tuned!

Next up, we got ourselves a pizza roundup coming folks! According to one of my Insta-polls, some of you guys were hoping to grab a couple of the recipes I’ve been making this week so don’t worry it’s coming soon! Here’s a sneak peek of one of the options: Breakfast Pizza!!

You guys saw it on Insta-Stories – I got a new bracelet, courtesy of Trending Above. Thank you so much to my new friend, Alyssa, for one of her creations, as well as the champagne gummy bears. Yum! Look for a cocktail recipe with those coming soon. As for the bracelet, it’s called the Staci and it’s super cute – goes with everything. I got the one in Rose Gold but it also comes in other metals as well. It’s currently sold out for the moment but I’ll let you know when it’s back in stock. See how I styled it below!

IMG_8952

This little highlight is sure to please: my first restaurant week experience! I ended up going to Barrio with a couple new foodie friends and needless to say it was delicious! Full review to come on that because I plan on rounding up both my restaurant week experiences after I go to Split-Rail on Thursday.

Of course I couldn’t pass up going to Barrio’s sister store, Bodega, for a churro! The churros used inside Barrio are the actual Bodega ones – cool right? Even cooler is the churro flavor of the month: red velvet! Perfect for Valentine’s day! This churro was just sweet enough without being too over the top. When I go next, I’m getting their hot cocoa (with a churro of course) or their “churd” aka chocolate ice cream with churros.

The next morning I ended up at another new spot closer to home – IT! Crepes. It’s a cute little cafe with coffee options and crepes as well as panini and other lunch options too. I got the Turkey Avocado Club and oy it was heavenly. The bread had the perfect crunch to it and all the ingredients played together so well. Plus, look how cute it was displayed with the newspaper?? Needless to say, I’ll be back again soon for another one of those.

And…just in case you needed another sneak peek (of course you do!), I’m also taking on the ultimate French toast on the blog as well! Fruit, ice cream, what more could you want?!

Speaking of food, I made some loaded nachos for the Super Bowl yesterday and they ended up being a hit! Not sure if I’ll do a post on it, but if you guys want it let me know. It was complete with cheese, beans, chicken, guac, sour cream, and chips of course!

Also wanted to give a quick shout out to my blogger buddy, Jordin, who’s birthday is today: happy birthday girl!! Give her a shout and tell her I sent you.

Local Spots I Checked Out: Barrio, Bodega Imports, IT! Crepes

Events I’m Looking Forward To: Chicagogrammers Happy Hour, Restaurant Week at Split Rail, MMLaFleur Meetup with Sassy Confetti and The Chicago Good Life

See you in the next post!

An Avocado, Thanks!!

Hi everybody! I’m sure many of you have noticed a little trend on my Instagram lately…AVOCADO TOAST! This has obviously become a new favorite of mine so I’ve been searching high and low for a great version in the city and I think I found some gems. Without further ado, let’s check out the options!IMG_5462

First up is my own creation, which sadly I had to disqualify since you can’t exactly go into a restaurant to find it (haha) but so far it’s been my favorite one! If you need the recipe, check out this post here!

IMG_4118

First on the roster is the toast from Slightly Toasted, just across the street from Ogilvie Transportation Center for the fellow commuters out there! Sadly, I didn’t love this one so much since the all the greens took over the flavor. If you want salad as a toast then you’ll like this but I wanted to taste the avocados and egg more.

IMG_5555

The next one is from Maison Marcel, a new French-cafe style spot in Lakeview. I could have done without the sprouts but otherwise this was pretty good! The sweet potato hash added a nice touch, not to mention the ambiance of the space with everyone working peacefully around me.

IMG_5640.jpgIMG_5641.JPG

A lot of you have probably heard about this next one: Summer House Santa Monica. I wanted to like this one more than I did but the meal was cold 😅. That aside, this toast had an interesting ingredient that I never would have thought to put in – mascarpone. This was pretty good but not great sadly, as was the service. Definitely going to come back for the cookies though since I hear they are really good.

The final is so far my favorite one – The Allis at Soho House. The avocado to bread ratio is UNREAL here – you get so much while the rest of these other options seemed to just scrape it on. The basil added a nice flavor and the farmhouse bread was so crunchy. The poached egg cuts the basil nicely. The ambiance here was perfect and I would definitely come back soon (read more about the experience here).

Well there you have it! The winner is The Allis! The more toasts I try, I’ll be sure to add a follow up post so stay tuned.

See you in the next post!
